The procedure
A facelift commonly involves making small incisions inside the hairline, following the contour in front of the ear, and continuing under the earlobe to the backside of the ear to the lower scalp. The procedure usually takes several hours to complete. Following surgery, a small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin behind your ear to drain any blood that might collect there.
In addition to a full facelift, Dr. Kitto, BOARD CERTIFIED Plastic Surgeon, also performs a mini facelift plastic surgery for patients who have minor sagging around the cheeks, jawline and neck.

Recovery process
Patients may experience some bruising and swelling for the first few days. The small drain (if used) is removed the day after surgery. Stitches are removed one week after surgery. Many patients typically return to work by the second week after surgery.

What are the different types of facelifts?
Dr. Kitto performs both a traditional, full facelift and a mini facelift.In a full facelift small incisions are made around the ears and into the hairline to tighten the muscles of the face and neck and trim the excess fat from the neck and jowls. In a mini facelift small incisions are made in the hairline above the ears and within the mouth, which allows her to reposition the fat pads in the cheeks over the cheekbones and tighten the skin.
How do I know which facelift is right for me?
It depends on which wrinkles and sagging skin you would like to address. A full facelift offers more dramatic results. It benefits patients with moderate to significant facial sagging. A mini facelift can help if you are unhappy with sagging cheeks and deepening nasolabial folds.
Will I have scars from a facelift?
Yes, however, facelift scars follow the hairline and not very visible. They are easy to conceal with your hair.
How soon can I expect to notice results after a facelift?
Bruising and swelling are common in the first few days. Your stitches will be removed one week after surgery. Most patients are fully recovered with no more swelling or side effects after three weeks.
