What can i expect during my Procedure?
During a necklift the droopy muscle of the neck (platysma muscle) is lifted to a more youthful position. Additionally for patients with genetically heavy neck the platysma is divided and fat is excised from the deep plane aka “deep plane necklift”. The droopy muscle is then sutured in multiple places to recreate the youthful and defined neck. Liposuction can also be used to further outline the elegant contour of the neck when necessary. Dr. Kitto commonly performs deep plane necklift in combination with deep plane facelift if the patient’s main concern is aging. In this case incisions are placed around the ears and below the chin. In select younger patients with genetically heavy neck only the neck tissues are addressed via a small incision below the chin.
What can i expect during my recovery?
You will have a gentle face wrap and possibly a drain for the first night after your procedure. Expect to recover in the privacy of your own home. It is common to have swelling of the lower face and neck and some bruising which will subside in a week. You will be followed closely by Dr. Kitto and her team during your recovery.
