  • What is CoolSculpting? And How Does It Work?

What is CoolSculpting? And How Does It Work?

We know freezing works wonders on food, preventing unwanted spoilage, bacteria, and parasites. But can freezing fat also achieve miraculous results for our bodies? Yes—through an innovative and non-invasive procedure called CoolSculpting. Let’s discover how it works.

Like most of us, you probably have stubborn areas of fat that even regular exercise or a healthy diet won’t conquer. The good news is that fat-freezing treatments can target these areas without surgery.

According to the creators of the CoolSculpting procedure, it is a “unique fat freezing technology that is a non-surgical, scientifically proven way to reduce pockets of fat in trouble spots such as the abdomen, flanks, or under the chin in as little as one session.”

It sounds like a fantastic and easy way to contour your body and restore a more youthful figure with minimal stress or recovery.

    But does CoolSculpting really work?

    laser asthetic coolsculpting

First, let’s get something straight. CoolSculpting isn’t a way to lose weight. If you go into the procedure with the expectation of shedding extra pounds, you will be disappointed.

Instead, it sculpts your body and eliminates fat in problem areas.

The technical term for CoolSculpting is cryolipolysis or fat freezing. It was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2010.

The CoolSculpting device, rounded paddles that suction your skin, uses controlled cooling technology. It causes the expulsion of excess fat cells from the body, effectively sculpting and defining common trouble spots.

Researchers came up with cryolipolysis by studying what happens to fat when you get frostbite. Fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin. Therefore, the CoolSculpting device cools your fat to a temperature that destroys it while leaving your skin and other tissues unharmed.

The CoolSculpting fat freezing treatment is done in a cosmetic surgeon’s office. It’s not a surgery, and there are no needles involved.

Treatment takes around 35 to 60 minutes for each target area, and at the end of each session, the area is massaged for 2 to 3 minutes, during which patients may feel a tingling sensation.

The best candidates for CoolSculpting are near their ideal weight and in overall good health.

They may have a pouch in their lower abdomen they can’t seem to get rid of, love handles, or fat pockets in the buttocks or thighs.

The fat-freezing treatment is quick and less invasive than surgery or liposuction. But what about the results?

    Is cool sculpting permanent?

    CoolSculpting

Once fat cells are destroyed, they are gone forever, so the results of CoolSculpting could potentially last a lifetime. Maintenance, however, is up to the patient.

It’s important to maintain a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise to make sure the bulges and rolls don’t make an unwanted return.

Some people who experience the CoolSculpting fat freezing treatment see the effects after one session, but typically it takes a few treatments to achieve optimal results. Of course, it depends on the patient and the areas being treated.

Every patient responds differently. Overall, if you receive several treatments, the results will be more dramatic.

One of the best benefits of CoolSculpting is the minimal downtime and pain following the procedure. Patients can return to work or their normal routine the same day.

Possible side effects include short-term pink or red skin in the treatment area. Occasionally patients can experience mild swelling, bruising, or skin sensitivity.

If you are frustrated with stubborn fat that’s resistant to even the most aggressive exercise routine, it’s time to search, “CoolSculpting near me” and explore what this popular procedure has to offer.

At Kitto Plastic Surgery, Dr. Kitto offers CoolSculpting along with a variety of other non-invasive and non-surgical procedures.

  • Everything You Need To Know About Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

Everything You Need To Know About Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

Over the past few years, the butt has come from behind, rising in plastic surgery popularity. Very round and prominent celebrity booties seen all over social media and women who desire an hourglass figure has led to more and more plastic surgery patients considering Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, buttocks augmentation has been the hottest and fastest-growing cosmetic surgery procedure in the past two years.

Let’s be honest, you can do 100 squats a day and never bring back the plump behind of your younger years. If you want your backside to perk up, get plumper, or protrude out in just the right way, here are all the important things you need to know about BBL surgery.

Read this useful information from an expert in BBL surgery like Dr. Kitto first before blindly searching for, “Brazilian butt lift near me.”

What Is A Brazilian Butt Lift?

BBL surgery is a surgical fat transfer procedure that increases the size and enhances and improves the contour of the buttocks with the patient’s own fat.

This fat is obtained from the patient’s abdomen, flanks, back, inner or outer thighs. This means that besides improving the appearance of the buttocks, patients also experience the benefits of a trimmer torso and achieve an overall slimmer appearance.

    Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery Richmond

The operation starts with liposuction of the desired areas to obtain the fat. These areas are selected depending on the patient’s goals and the buttocks size they want to achieve. In this stage of the surgery, liposuction improves the contour of these areas. Then the fat is prepared and injected in the buttocks until the anticipated size and symmetry are reached.

A Little More On Fat Grafting

To fully understand the Brazilian butt Lift surgery procedure, it’s important to have a grasp on fat grafting (or fat transfer), since that is the method used to create a more contoured appearance.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, “Fat grafting is the surgical process by which fat is transferred from one area of the body to another area.

The surgical goal is to improve or augment the area where the fat is injected. The technique involves extracting adipose fat by liposuction, processing the fat, and then reinjecting purified fat into the area needing improvement.”

You may be wondering how long the injected fat lasts. Because the filler is a patient’s own fat, the results of a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery and other fat grafting procedures can last for several years or even decades. Also, note that it can take up to six months to see the final results.

Is A BBL Surgery Right For You?

The goal of a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery isn’t always to end up with the biggest derrière possible. It is a good fit for candidates who are unhappy with the size and contour of their buttocks and hips or who have lost elasticity and volume in these areas over time.

BBL surgery can enhance a woman’s hourglass shape by achieving a slim waist and rounder, firmer buttocks. Ideal candidates also should not smoke and be in good health with at least 15–20 pounds of extra fat stores available for the transfer.

    Brazilian butt Lift Surgery Recovery

Brazilian butt Lift surgery patients typically take about 6–8 weeks to fully recover. Dr. Kitto performs the surgery as a same-day procedure and tells patients they should expect some bruising or swelling. Compression garments must be worn post-treatment to help decrease the swelling.

    Butt-Lift-before-after

Before you decide on a BBL surgery, take a look at Brazilian buttock lift before and after photos in Dr. Kitto’s gallery. Every patient is different with individual goals, so it’s important to consider BBL before and after pictures and have a good idea of the look you want to achieve before meeting with your plastic surgeon.

  • How should I pick a plastic surgeon

How should I pick a plastic surgeon

In a world flooded with opinions and advice from multiple sources such as friends, family, the media, and the internet, it’s hard to decide where to begin when deciding something as important as how to find a plastic surgeon.

Don’t make a big mistake by thinking it’s as simple as turning on your computer, typing in “plastic surgeon near me” and calling the first person you find that seems like a decent fit to perform the procedure you’ve been longing for. Choosing the best plastic surgeon involves lots of research, consultations, conversations, and knowledge. After all, the doctor you select will alter your appearance for the rest of your life.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the many options. So where do you begin? Let’s take a look at some tips that will help you pick the best plastic surgeon for the job and ensure you will gain self-confidence and happiness that will last for years to come.

Consider the Different Types of Plastic Surgery

In 2018 alone, plastic surgeons in the United States saw more than 250,000 patients for each procedure. With so many types of plastic surgery available and thousands of doctors qualified to perform the procedures, it’s important to consider selecting a plastic surgeon that specializes in the type of plastic surgery you want to have done. Each surgeon has a particular area of expertise. Find someone that has a style you love.

To do this, begin by looking at before and after pictures of patients provided by the surgeon. Pay particular attention to body types that are similar to yours and the results those patients were able to achieve. It is also is a good idea to ask for testimonials. A plastic surgeon you are considering may be able to put you in touch with other patients you can talk with about their experiences.

    Research Plastic Surgeon Certifications

One of the first things to accomplish when doing your homework on how to find a plastic surgeon is to figure out if a doctor you are considering is certified. This indicates he or she has undergone a rigorous certification process.

It is also worthwhile to check whether or not they are affiliated with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a well-respected organization that requires its members to undergo rigorous training and patient safety standards.

Get Recommendations For the Best Plastic Surgeons

Finding the best plastic surgeon takes time. It will serve you well to dedicate yourself to reading plenty of reviews and speaking with friends and relatives you respect their recommendations. Make sure to talk to people who will give you an honest opinion.

Remember, however, that every procedure is individual, and every experience is unique. While seeking advice is helpful, making sure you are happy with your personal selection is most crucial.

Make Sure You Trust Your Plastic Surgeon

Never set up only one meeting (or none at all). Make appointments for multiple consultations with plastic surgeons you like to truly decide which one best fits your needs.

Don’t get caught up with scoring the lowest price available and instead prioritize choosing the best plastic surgeon for you. Trust your gut, and you will know when you feel most comfortable and make the right connection with someone.

Also, don’t underestimate the office staff. Are they polite and knowledgeable? Does it seem like they are happy with their jobs and quick to respond when you have a concern? They will contribute to your overall satisfaction.

    Ask Lots of Questions

How to choose best plastic surgeon

Arrive at your consultations prepared with plenty of questions for potential plastic surgeons. A few things you may want to ask include where the doctor has hospital privileges, the follow-up care process, background and education history, types of insurance accepted, etc.

Of course, you shouldn’t be the only one doing the interviewing. A caring and skilled plastic surgeon will also ask patients many questions. They will want to know about your medical history, lifestyle, goals for the procedure, concerns, and much more.

Now that you know more about how to find a plastic surgeon, you are ready to discover the best plastic surgeons in your area. If you are looking for a top female plastic surgeon in Richmond, start with Dr. Kitto of Kitto Plastic Surgery. • All You Need To Know About Eyelid Surgery

All You Need To Know About Eyelid Surgery

You have probably heard the saying “The eyes are a mirror to the soul.” Unfortunately, they can also be very good at reflecting your age.

If you have noticed signs of aging affecting your eyes, eyelid surgery can help restore the most expressive feature on your face.

When people look into your eyes, you don’t want them to see drooping eyelids, wrinkles, or bags. Bright, refreshed, and open eyes are the ones that will earn you a second glance.

Because the skin around the eyes is so delicate, this area is often one of the first areas where people notice the effects of getting older.

That’s why it’s important to be proactive and consider your options for restoring that youthful look to your face. Let’s explore how eyelid surgery can help.

    What is Eyelid Surgery?

    Eyelid Surgery Richmond VA

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids.

It addresses the typical signs of aging that affect the eyes and the skin surrounding the eyes including drooping eyelids, fatty deposits that make eyes look puffy, sagging or bags, and wrinkles under the eyes.

Blepharoplasty tightens up the skin and muscle of the eyelids, reduces excess fat, and lifts the eyelid skin to make eyes appear more open.

There are a few types of eyelid surgery available depending on what areas you would like to address. Patients can choose lower eyelid surgery, upper eyelid surgery, or both.

Upper blepharoplasty surgery uses incisions to remove skin and fat. A thin stitch is then used to bring the skin together to create an eyelid crease.

During lower eyelid surgery your doctor will make cuts in the lower eyelid and then remove excess skin and fat. Then he or she will sew the skin back together to create a smoother, lifted look.

Your surgeon may also recommend fat grafting or injecting fat to hollow areas under the eyes to give them a fuller appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

Does it always look like you are squinting in photos? Maybe you appear tired no matter how much sleep you got the night before or are constantly bothered by undereye bags or dark circles that never go away.

If you are plagued by these problems and aging has changed the size or shape of your eyes, you are likely a good candidate for eyelid surgery.

Blepharoplasty is for patients who are bothered by drooping eyelid skin, bags and wrinkles under the eyes, and fat deposits that cause them to appear older than their age.

Patients considering eyelid surgery should be in good physical condition and without any serious eye problems.

Choosing a Surgeon for Eyelid Surgery

When meeting with a plastic surgeon, make sure to be clear and realistic with expectations.

Prior to your consultation, it helps to research eyelid surgery before and after photos and bring some examples with you that show the look you desire.

Before Eyelid Surgery After Eyelid Surgery

It is best to keep in mind, however, that every patient and surgery is different, and results vary depending on many individual factors.

According to statistics, the average cost of cosmetic eyelid surgery is $3,282, this does not include anesthesia, operating room facilities, or other related expenses.

It can also vary by location and the years of experience of your cosmetic surgeon.

It is always most important to weight other factors along with costs like your doctor’s background, credentials, and appropriate communication and understanding of your goals.

    Eyelid Surgery Recovery Tips

    Eyelid Surgery Recovery

Blepharoplasty is an outpatient, same-day procedure. Patients are sent home to recover with detailed instructions and follow up.

Common side effects may include bruising, irritation, swelling, and in some cases, dry eyes. The side effects are usually mild and temporary and can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and ointments.

During the first 48 hours, using cool compresses can help reduce bruising and swelling around the eyes and face. Light activity such as walking will also help speed healing.

Thin bandages are placed over the incision sites and removed in several days, while the stitches can remain in the skin for about a week. Sometimes self-absorbing stitches are used that do not require removal.

Most people return to normal activities after seven to 10 days following blepharoplasty. After two weeks, the majority of the bruising and swelling will resolve.

Patients are seen in the office regularly by their doctor to ensure complete recovery.

When all eyes are on you, make sure you look back at your best. Consider eyelid surgery to take years off your look and improve your most noticeable feature.

To schedule a consultation, call 804-294-1777 or visit the Kitto Plastic Surgery website at KittoPlasticSurgery.com to discover additional information about eyelid surgery and find out if it’s right for you.

  • Breast Implant Dimensions & Sizes

    Breast Implant Dimensions & Sizes

If you are like most women considering breast surgery, you have been dreaming about how fantastic your body could look with the ideal boob augmentation procedure.

Maybe pregnancy and breastfeeding have taken a toll on your figure, and you wish to get back the full and perky breasts you loved in your younger years.

Or perhaps you have always desired larger breast size, longing to feel confident in clothing and look more feminine.

What Breast Implant Size and Shape is Right For You?

Breast implants can help you achieve the look want, but first, you must decide what size and shape implants are right for you. Will you go big or more modest?

There are lots of things to consider before committing to one of many breast size options. Try not to compare yourself to another woman.

Everybody is unique, and your plastic surgeon can work with you to attain your perfect and individualized results.

What Are The Different Breast Implant Sizes And Shapes?

When thinking of how large you would like your enhanced breasts to look, you and your cosmetic surgeon must consider your current body size and shape, including the amount of breast tissue available.

If you don’t have enough tissue, your size choices will be more limited. Another factor is the proportions of your body, including the space between your shoulders, chest, and width of the hips.

Very large implants are hard to accommodate on a smaller frame.

    Breast-Implant-Dimensions-Sizes-Richmond

Once your measurements are taken, you are then ready to pick the appropriate-sized breast implants, including volume, diameter, shape, and profile. The Ones that fit well with your current breast measurements will look the most natural.

Volume is measured in cubic centimeters (ccs). For approximately every 150 to 200 ccs, the breasts will typically increase about one or one and a half cup sizes.

An average implant is about 300 or 400 ccs. The more ccs, the more it will project outward. Diameter also affects the projection.

A breast implant with a wider diameter will be flatter and project outward less than the implant with a narrower diameter.

Its shapes include round or teardrop (oval). Round implants are more symmetrical with a consistent amount of fullness all over and more dramatic and outward projection.

Oval implants have lower volume, giving the breasts a more natural look.

The profile of a breast implant also influences how full your breasts look. Implants with a moderate profile are flatter, while high-profile implants sit higher and offer a more rounded, prominent appearance.

Consider Lifestyle When Deciding on Breast Surgery Options

    Breast Augmentation Richmond VA

Before selecting your breast size, also make sure to contemplate your lifestyle along with your look.

If you have a very active lifestyle and regularly do a lot of high-impact activity, large breast implants could get in the way. If you have a physically demanding job, the weight of larger breasts may cause discomfort.

If you tend to prefer a more modest amount of cleavage, don’t choose implants with a high profile and a lot of volumes. Remember that clothing will fit differently after your breast surgery.

Communicate and Consult Before Your Breast Augmentation

Before your boob augmentation procedure, be honest with your plastic surgeon, and be ready to communicate how to want your breasts to look, including size, fullness, shape, etc. It is helpful to bring photos to your consultation appointment.

To schedule a consultation, call 804-294-1777 to discover additional information about all of the types of breast implants available and which size and shape are right for you.

    Popular Cosmetic Procedures in Virginia

    Types of Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

If you are just beginning to consider one of the many types of cosmetic procedures available, congratulations.

Choosing to enhance your appearance can improve your self-confidence, inspire a healthier lifestyle, relieve pain, and more. And you are not alone.

According to the latest statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2019, doctors performed 1.8 million cosmetic procedures.

    Popular Cosmetic Procedures in Virginia

While the possibilities and positive reputation of the practice continuing to soar, there is a lot to learn before making important decisions about the type of surgery right for you.

And today, a growing list of minimally invasive procedures add to the options. To help you navigate your journey, let’s discuss some of the most common types of cosmetic surgery and popular Virginia cosmetic procedures.

    What Are Cosmetic Procedures?

But first, what exactly are cosmetic procedures? Before even considering surgery or looking through much plastic surgery before and after galleries, make sure you gather all the information you can about the meaning of cosmetic procedures.

According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, “cosmetic surgery is a unique discipline of medicine focused on enhancing appearance through surgical and medical techniques.”

These procedures are elective and can be done on any area of the head, neck, or body.

In contrast, plastic surgery is defined as “a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease.

Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature.”

A lot of patients confuse the two, so by understanding the difference, you are already ahead of the game and know the correct path to research.

Next, we explore some of the most common Virginia cosmetic procedures, including surgical, non-invasive, and the exciting trend of “mommy makeovers.”

    Surgical Procedures

As the name implies, surgical cosmetic procedures are just that—surgery. They involve cutting tissues (incisions), anesthesia, and recovery time.

While these surgeries are more complicated, they often come with more dramatic and longer-lasting results.

Dr. Kitto specializes is many of the most popular surgical Virginia cosmetic procedures.

Breast augmentation: It is very common for women to be born with small breasts or to lose volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country and addresses sagging, small size, or a misshapen chest. The surgery involves adding a silicone or saline implant that brings fullness and shapes back to the breasts.

Patients feel like themselves again—younger, more feminine, self-confident, and comfortable in their clothing.

    Breast Augmentation Virginia

Face Lift: A traditional facelift benefits patients with moderate to significant facial aging.

A plastic surgeon makes small incisions around the ears and into the hairline, tightens the muscles of the face and neck, and trims the excess fat from the neck and jowls.

In most cases, the traditional facelift offers the most dramatic and long-lasting results.

A mid-facelift treats the middle of the face or cheek area.

Candidates are often in the earlier stages of aging and are unhappy with sagging cheeks and deepening nasolabial folds around the nose, but they don’t yet require addressing sagging and wrinkling in the neck and jowls.

Small incisions are made in the hairline above the ears and within the mouth, which allows the surgeon to reposition the fat pads in the cheeks over the cheekbones and tighten the skin.

    Dr Kitto Face Lift Surgery

Rhinoplasty (nose job): This surgery reshapes the nose, improving the appearance, or correcting breathing problems. The procedure starts with incisions made either within the nostrils or around the tissue between the nostrils.

The surgeon gently lifts the soft tissue covering the nose, sculpts the bone and cartilage to the desired shape, and re-positions the tissues.

Neck Lift: If you need to smooth lines, wrinkles, creases, and folds between your face and body, this cosmetic procedure for the neck will allow you to hold your head up high with self-confidence.

It is appropriate for anyone who wants to tighten the often-loosening neck muscles. Incisions under the sideburns, around the ear and into the hair help the surgeon lift the skin and remove fatty deposits under the chin.

Most patients go back to work after a neck lift within one or two weeks. This can also be one of the most effective procedures for double chin issues.

Eyelid Surgery: While some patients have always been displeased with the shape of their eyes, aging can significantly change their appearance. Bright, open eyes can become heavy-lidded or droopy.

This cosmetic procedure corrects the upper or lower eyelids, including under-eye bags and fat deposits. An incision is made along the natural crease of the eyelids to remove excess skin along with muscle and fat deposits.

For evidence of the dramatic results of this popular cosmetic procedure, check out the results in Dr. Kitto’s plastic surgery before and after gallery.

    Mommy Makeovers

After a woman is done having children, she often desires to get her former body back. Mommy makeovers to the rescue!

This combination of surgeries aims to lift, tuck, and improve the physical appearance of mainly the breasts and abdomen.

    Mommy Makeover

Mommy makeovers commonly include breast augmentation along with other cosmetic procedures such as:

Liposuction: Eliminate fat in the entire abdominal region after childbirth or use liposuction to get rid of stubborn fat deposits anywhere in the body.

Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure performed to remove excess fat through a small, thin tube called a cannula.

The fat is suctioned from the body through this tube to help patients achieve a more slender and balanced overall appearance.

Tummy Tuck: Helps remove loose, sagging skin or fatty deposits and repair stretched muscles in the abdomen. Women end up with a firmly contoured tummy once again.

An incision is made along the abdomen to separate the skin from the abdominal muscles. Then the skin is stretched away from the muscle tissue, and excess skin is removed.

The abdominal muscle tissues are tightened to provide a firmly contoured stomach and a well-defined waistline.

    Tummy Tuck

Labiaplasty: If you are looking for a labiaplasty surgeon in Virginia, Dr. Kitto has a wealth of experience with this trending procedure.

Often, hormonal changes, weight gain, aging, or pregnancy, and childbirth can cause the labia to appear saggy.

A vaginal rejuvenation, or labiaplasty, involves decreasing the size or altering the shape of the labia minora, the inner vaginal lips on both sides of the vagina, to give it a more “tucked in” appearance.

In some cases, it can also include sculpting the labia majora, or outer lips, or trimming the clitoral hood.

Labiaplasty - labia minora and labia majora

    Minimally invasive (Non-Surgical) Procedures

The number of minimally invasive cosmetic procedures is increasing every year. Patients love these options because they are less risky, have little to no recovery time, and are often more affordable than traditional surgeries.

Dr. Kitto performs all of the most popular minimally invasive (non-surgical) procedures including:

Botox: Botulinum toxin is extremely popular because it is a quick and effective, in-office procedure that improves the most visible signs of aging on the face.

The injectable treatment blocks and relaxes the impulses of the nerves and reduces the activity of the muscles. Results are visible within a week of the injection and last for 4–6 months.

Commonly treated wrinkles and fine lines include forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and thick bands on the neck.

Soft-Tissue Fillers: Injectable dermal fillers like Juvederm®, Belotero®, Restylane®, and Voluma® are comprised of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body’s connective tissues.

They are used to treat superficial or fine lines on specific parts of the face, such as the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, or lips.

These injections offer immediate volume and are a cost-effective way to improve overall facial aging without surgery or downtime.

Chemical Peel: Peeling involves artificially removing the outer layer of skin to speed up the body’s natural skin renewal process.

The skin grows back without replicating many of the problems that have developed during its life, such as fine lines, sun damage, or dark spots.

Dr. Kitto offers several peels including the Jessner Peel and TCA Peel.

The Jessner Peel is a medium-depth peel that contains three acne- and sun-damage fighting peeling agents designed to improve the overall appearance and health of acne-prone and aging skin—salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol.

These ingredients work together to shed damaged cells, dry out acne lesions, dislodge congestion within the pores, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and lighten hyper-pigmentation and acne scarring.

A TCA Peel is a more intensive peel that uses trichloroacetic acid to remove the old cells and stimulate growth.

  • Mommy Makeovers are Here!

    Mommy Makeovers are Here!

From pregnancy to childbirth and breastfeeding, you’ve spent years dedicating your body to your kids. Of course, it was worth it, but now it’s time to do something for yourself.

Having a mommy makeover can help you get back your pre-baby body and boost your self-confidence.

Many women who have had this increasingly popular cosmetic surgery combination procedure agree that feeling good about themselves and the way they look makes them happier, more energetic moms.

Motherhood can be exhausting without the additional stress of worrying about endless diets and exercise. They help and are important to your health, but your body will likely never be the same without a mommy makeover.

So, what exactly is a mommy makeover surgery?

No two mommy makeovers are the same. They typically involve a few different cosmetic surgery procedures, all aimed at lifting, tucking, and overall improving the physical appearance of the breasts and abdomen.

After women are done having children, the body often doesn’t bounce back even with large amounts of physical activity and nutritious foods.

Your personalized mommy makeover corrects the problem and may include body contouring through breast augmentation, a breast lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction.

Before deciding what combination is right for you, the first step is finding a plastic surgeon in Virginia who will get you the mommy makeover before and after surgery results you desire.

A woman herself, Dr. Kitto is personally familiar with the female body and an expert at listening to each patient’s needs and goals.

A consultation is very important because mommy makeovers are a highly individual cosmetic surgery procedure. It’s crucial to consider all of the choices.

    Mommy Makeover Surgery Options

Breast augmentation: Pregnancy and breastfeeding change the size and feel of the breasts. Women often lose volume during this time, leaving them sagging, smaller, or misshapen.

Breast augmentation involves adding a silicone or saline implant that brings fullness and shapes back to the breasts. Patients feel like themselves again—younger, more feminine, self-confident, and comfortable in their clothing.

Breast Lift: Sometimes moms want to bring back the natural shape of their breasts. A breast lift restores the firmness they lost by elevating the breasts.

The cosmetic surgery procedure can be performed by itself or in conjunction with breast augmentation.

Tummy Tuck: A mom’s body is miraculous, with abdominal skin able to stretch to accommodate a growing baby. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always go back to being taunt after childbirth.

A tummy tuck can help remove loose, sagging skin or fatty deposits and repair stretched muscles in the abdomen. Women end up with a firmly contoured tummy once again.

Liposuction: A tummy tuck is almost always combined with liposuction to eliminate fat in the entire abdominal region and achieve the overall tightened look of the waistline that moms want to return.

Hard-to-remove fat is suctioned through a small, thin tube, creating an overall more slender and firm appearance.

  • The Ultimate Guide 5 Most Common Facelift

The Ultimate Guide 5 Most Common Facelift

Let’s face the facts—as we get older, our appearance can suffer, including a once much more youthful-looking mug.

Because the face is what often creates an impactful first impression, facelifts remain popular cosmetic surgery procedures because of their trusted and lasting results.

Aging can cause sagging necks and jowls along with deep facial creases and folds. Thankfully, modern-style facelifts focus on tightening and lifting the skin to create more natural-looking results, with less scarring and little downtime.

But you may be surprised to learn that when considering facelifts, you need to research and consider many more than just one option. The best choice depends on what areas you want to target and the desired results.

What facelift is right for you? Let’s explore some of the most common procedures.

    Traditional, Full Facelift

    Facelift Surgery

This procedure is what most people think of when hearing the term facelift. It benefits patients with moderate to significant facial aging.

A plastic surgeon makes small incisions around the ears and into the hairline, tightens the muscles of the face and neck, and trims the excess fat from the neck and jowls.

In most cases, the traditional facelift offers the most dramatic and long-lasting results.

    Endoscopic Brow Lift

If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your forehead and eye area and long for a solution to correct creases, lift a furrowed or heavy brow and open the eyes, consider an endoscopic brow lift.

Less invasive than the traditional brow lift method, this procedure involves making three to five short incisions behind the hairline and placing an endoscope in one incision to lift the skin and adjust the muscles through the other incisions.

The entire surgery typically takes no longer than two hours, and a full recovery is typically achieved in about two weeks.

    Mid-face Lift

This facelift treats the mid-face or cheek area.

    Neck Lift

If you need to smooth lines, wrinkles, creases, and folds around your neck, learn more about this procedure appropriate for anyone who wants to tighten the often-loosening neck muscles.

Incisions under the sideburns, around the ear and into the hair help the surgeon lift the skin and remove fatty deposits under the chin. Most patients go back to work after a neck lift within one or two weeks.

    Liquid Facelift

If your face desperately needs a lift but you are unwilling to go under the knife, injectable fillers that combat wrinkles and plump the skin can provide the perfect solution.

Dermal fillers like Juvederm®, Belotero®, Restylane®, and Voluma® are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body’s connective tissues.

They can treat lines and folds and even stimulate new collagen growth. Results don’t last as long as other types of facelifts, but patients enjoy little to no recovery time and a more immediate change.

  • THE UNKNOWN BENEFITS OF LABIAPLASTY

    THE UNKNOWN BENEFITS OF LABIAPLASTY

Most people are familiar with cosmetic surgery procedures that focus on enhancements to the face or breasts or that involve overall body contouring. But many women have a more private concern that can be difficult to discuss—they are unhappy with the appearance of their labia. Large, hanging, and often darkly pigmented vaginal tissue can cause discomfort, affect their personal relationships, and cause self-confidence issues.

Thankfully, the low-risk and simple labiaplasty procedure is soaring in popularity and helps women boost their self-esteem, reduce pain, and regain a more youthful appearance. If you’ve experienced irritating pulling, tugging, or pinching of your labia or are embarrassed by the way your vaginal area looks during intimacy or while wearing tight clothing like a bathing suit or yoga plants, you may be a good candidate for labia plastic surgery.

    Labiaplasty-Benefits

    What is Labiaplasty?

A labiaplasty, involves decreasing the size or altering the shape of the labia minora, the inner lips on both sides of the vagina, to give it a more “tucked in” appearance. In some cases, it can also include sculpting the labia majora, or outer lips, or trimming the clitoral hood.

Patients find comfort in knowing the procedure comes with a low risk of infection and causes only minimal scarring that’s no longer visible after a few months. Mild post-procedure pain and swelling lasts a few days and can be controlled with over-the-counter medications.

How to find a labiaplasty cosmetic surgeon

Of course, with such a confidential procedure, it’s very important to find a plastic surgeon you trust, who values safety, and who has a personal familiarity with the female anatomy. Most women feel more comfortable talking with a female doctor.

At Kitto Plastic Surgery, Dr. Kitto prides herself on offering highly individualized attention to all patients considering labiaplasty because each surgery is unique, she says, and every patient has her own important goals and expectations.

During an in-depth consultation, Dr. Kitto can answer any questions about labia plastic surgery and also discuss some of the unknown benefits, such as:

    Self-confidence

Labia minora reduction reduces worries about the appearance of a woman’s most intimate area. This major increase in self-confidence removes inhibitions and anxiety and leads to improved intimacy and healthier sexual relationships. It also diminishes feelings of embarrassment or worries about a visible bulge when wearing tight clothing.

    A Symmetrical Look

Often, the two labia can look different in shape, size and color. Additionally, the labia minora may be larger or longer than the labia majora. Even though this is normal for the labia to be asymmetrical, women may experience emotional discomfort due to the appearance of their labia.

A labiaplasty procedure can alleviate those concerns by removing the excess labial tissue.

    Pain Management

When the labia minora hangs below the outer lips, pain and discomfort can be a legitimate problem, especially during sex, exercise (such as bike riding), and other everyday activities.

The lips can become twisted, tucked inside, chafed, or generally distressed. Removing the excess skin can help tremendously and restore an active lifestyle.

If you have been considering a labiaplasty procedure and are interested in learning more, stop hesitating. It’s time to make your self-confidence a priority and discover if it’s the right choice for you.

  • Five Myths about Silicone Breast Implants

Five Myths about Silicone Breast Implants

Ever since the first introduction of silicone breast implants in 1964, there have been many questions and myths about this most studied medical device by the FDA. Breast augmentation consultation in my office is about an hour since I take time to educate my patients on everything there is to know about breast implants. I wanted to address 5 myths in this blog that I commonly encounter.

      • I can not breastfeed with breast implants. That is actually not true. Plenty of women undergo breast augmentation prior to having children and are still able to breastfeed.
      • Silicone breast implants are harmful for my baby: That is also not true. Extensive research has shown that the amounts of silicone in breast milk are insignificant and will not harm a baby.
      • Breast implants have to be replaced every 10 years. That is not correct. The indications for implant replacement are infection, rupture, capsular contracture, and size change. If done properly the risk of having those is very low.
    • Breast implants rupture easily: That is not correct. Implants that are currently on the market undergo rigorous research. It is possible to have implants for a lifetime and they may never rupture.
    • Breast implants will make me look fake. That is also not true. The implants that are on the market today come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can have breast implants that are specifically selected to match your body shape and your lifestyle and look completely natural and proportional.

I hope you have found this information helpful. If you would like to learn more call Dr. Kitto Plastic Surgery at 804-294-1777 and Schedule a Consultation. I look forward to meeting you!
