How our skin ages

The skin goes through a natural shedding process called desquamation. But as we age, this natural shedding process slows down, and collagen production and the skin’s natural moisture level also decline. In addition, the subcutis fat begins to thin and facial muscles begin to droop.

What is SkinPen™

SkinPen™ is a non-surgical, skin rejuvenating treatment through microneedling therapy. Tiny needles penetrate the dermis with little to no pain which stimulates the body’s own collagen and elastin production through an immune response. This procedure results in tighter skin, less fine lines and wrinkles, softening of scarring and pigmentation, and shrinking of large pores almost immediately.

The Procedure

This is an in-office, relatively quick and painless treatment. Depending on the patient’s skin needs, multiple treatments may be needed. Treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart and may be combined with HydraFacial MD™ and/or medical grade skin care in order to achieve maximal results.

Recovery process

Some patients may experience bruising and mild swelling which is temporary. Patients are given an at-home skin care regimen which expedites their healing. Results become visible a week after each treatment.
