Most moles, cysts and other blemishes are benign or non-cancerous. Depending on their size and location they may cause physical discomfort and emotional distress to patients. Uncommonly, moles can become cancerous growths. It is best to get medical advice if you notice a mole that suddenly grows quickly, develops an unusual shape, or becomes black or multicolored.
Procedure
Procedures used to remove moles, cysts or other skin lesions are quick and can be performed in the office under local anesthesia for the patient’s maximal comfort.
The most common methods of cyst or lesion removal include removing the mole by shave excision or excising the entire lesion and closing the defect with stitches.
Absolutely satisfied with my experience in Dr. Kitto’s office. She was very responsive from the beginning when I requested an appointment via email until the completion of the skin pen treatments. Thank you, Dr. Kitto, my skin is glowing and my skin tone is definitely much better. I receive compliment on how much my skin is glowing every time I go out now. So glad I found you. The office environment is really welcoming and friendly. She gets you in and out without alot of unnecessary waiting.

Benign skin lesions
A shave excision is a simple procedure used to treat protruding benign skin lesions. After the skin is numbed with local anaesthetic the spot is removed with a scalpel blade. Most of the time, there will be no trace of the surgery if the spot was of the superficial variety. Sometime, there will be a flat white mark left if the root of the spot was deeper. Benign lesions will usually not return once they have been removed.
Cysts or deeper moles
For the treatment of bigger and deeper cysts or moles, Dr. Kitto may use the excisional biopsy method, which produces a better cosmetic result. With this procedure, the full depth of the lesion is removed and the wound is sutured.
The scar that results from excision is usually only a thin imperceptible line, though it can sometimes be more noticeable if the lesion was large or if the healing is abnormal.
In order to produce an inconspicuous scars Dr. Kitto uses a combination of very fine sutures on the skin and absorbable sutures at the deeper levels.
Skin blemishes
Skin blemishes can be removed with various treatments such as medical grade peels, microneedling such as SkinPen™ , or other minimally invasive procedures that Dr. Kitto will discuss with you in detail.
RecoverY
These are short in-office procedures. Depending on the size and location of the lesion removed, patients may have mild bruising and swelling which resolves in a couple of days. If permanent stitches were placed, they are removed in 1-2 weeks. Patients are then seen periodically for scar management if necessary.
Very professional. Really have enjoyed my results.
